Reception Commentary Sunday 30th October
Welcome back. I hope everyone has enjoyed their half term.
Over the next half term we will be thinking about ourselves as special people in a big wide world. For the first two weeks back we will be thinking about our friends from across the Channel in France, their language, architecture, and their way of life. We will be setting up the following role play scenarios:
- French Cafe (Thursday 3rd November 8.00 - 8.45 am)
- An artist's day and masterclass (Tuesday 8th November 10.30 - 11.30 am)
- The famous Tour de France cycle race(Wednesday 9th November 9.00 - 10.00am)
The children are invited to dress up for all the above role play activities.(eg French waiter / waitress; French artist; French cyclist)., and parents are warmly invited to join us on any or all the activities above.
Following the events the props and role play areas will be available for the children to use and learn through their own organisational play, so parent interraction with the events is very much encourged to help give our children an idea of how to play in these areas. Arrangements for the activities will be sorted out with the children and published in advance, and the specific learning opportunities we take from them will be summarised in daily commentaries. Again any consolidation at home will enhance the children's learning experience. Listen out for songs the children should pick up during the week. They will contain basic french vocabulary and constructions that will give the children an awareness of a basic conversational language.
Outside Adventure to Rhinefield (2)
On Thursday 3rd November we are going on our second adventure to Rhinefield to see the changes that have taken place over the past month. We will also be loking for the features of some of the landscapes painted by Claude Monet ready for our masterclass. If you are able to help with this adventure please let me know over the next couple of days.
Parents Evening Monday 31st October.
Many thanks for signing up for parents consultations tomorrow. Could I please ask that you arrive on time and remind you that the consultation is a very brief informal (10 minute) chat to check you are happy and informed. As parents in year R are invited into school three morning's a week, are invited to help in class whenever possible, have regular updates via the website and are encouraged to contact me by email whenever necessary, I would hope all are already well informed !
Phonics First Thing
We will be continuing our write dance first thing so I look forward to catching up with everyone then.
Have a great week.
