We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

Year 1 Blog

Friday 24th June

What a lovely week we have had. We started the week talking about The Great Fire of London, we looked at what kind of jobs people did in 1666, and then compared firefighters and their equipment in 1666 to the present day. We  used our senses to describe what it would have been like to be an eyewitness. In art, we created our background for The Great of London, some children used pastels and some used paint, we had great fun mixing the colours. In Science, we worked on sorting different objects by type of material, we then spotted different types of materials around the school.

In English we have been writing a letter to the sailors warning them about the Pirate Cruncher. We had to remember lots of things to include in our  writing which included prepositions, un words, exclamation mark and a question.  I was so proud of all the children writing. Well done everyone!

In Maths we have been looking at 3D shapes and naming them. We have been sorting the shapes by using different categories and spotting the odd one out. The children have also been working on spotting the missing numbers in the number sentences.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!
