We have had another fantastic week in Badgers Class, rounded off with some beautiful sunshine! It has been lovely to see the children enjoying their learning and settling into the routines of school life.
This week, the children started their first maths and phonics lessons. They have shown great enthusiasm and are already beginning to grow in confidence with their learning.
In music, the children had a brilliant time using egg shakers to accompany familiar songs. It was a lovely way to introduce them to rhythm and making music together.
We also had another exciting Forest School session with Miss Welton. The children used tweezers to carefully remove sunflower seeds from a giant sunflower head. These will be used next week to make DIY bird feeders. The children also contributed their fruit and vegetable peelings from snack time to the wormery, learning about composting and caring for the environment.
We explored pannage season this week, and the children enjoyed digging and engaging in activities linked to seasonal changes. It was a great way to connect with nature and observe how the environment around us is beginning to shift as autumn approaches.
Our first PE session took place and the children thoroughly enjoyed getting active and moving in different ways. Just a reminder that
We also began our Drawing Club sessions this week. Our first story was The Colour Monster, which sparked some wonderful discussion and imaginative work. Drawing Club has been a real highlight and the children have really enjoyed it. If you would like to learn more about Drawing Club, you can find more information here:

A few reminders for next week:
Forest School will now take place every Wednesday and PE sessions will be on Fridays.
Please can reading books be brought into school every day so that we can read with your child and change books when needed.
The children have now visited the school library. They will be able to bring a library book home to share, which can then be returned and swapped during future visits.
We are holding a Phonics Evening for parents on Tuesday 7 October at 6.15pm in the school hall. This will be a great opportunity to understand the phonics scheme we use in school and how you can support your child at home with their early reading.
Finally, we are asking if children can bring in a baby photo. If you are able to please send one in or email it to me by next Tuesday, that would be much appreciated.
Thank you for your continued support. Have a lovely weekend, and we look forward to seeing everyone on Monday.
Many thanks,
Mr Harmer-Manning
