Year R

Friday 24th April 2026
Badgers have had another fantastic week in school and have continued to show great enthusiasm in all areas of their learning.
In maths, we have been focusing on numbers 13–20. The children have been using a range of practical resources to help them understand these numbers, including building them, representing them in different ways, and recognising them in our classroom environment. They are becoming increasingly confident with teen numbers—well done, Badgers!
In writing, the children created some lovely pieces all about what they would like to be when they grow up. They thought carefully about their ideas and produced some fantastic drawings to match their writing. It was wonderful to see their imaginations and aspirations shining through.
During Drawing Club, we explored The White Hen and the Fox. The children really enjoyed bringing the story to life through their drawings and discussions, and they impressed us with their creativity and storytelling ideas.
We were very lucky with the sunny weather during Forest School this week with Miss Welton. The children made the most of the outdoors, continuing to develop their teamwork, confidence, and exploration skills.
In PE, we have continued practising for Sports Day. The children are showing great determination and enthusiasm as they build their skills and prepare for the events.

A reminder that I have uploaded the Little Wandle reading books that we read in school onto Collins Hub. Your username and password can be found on the front page of the Reading Challenge booklet.
We are also continuing to learn new tricky words, so please make sure tricky pots are sent into school so we can update them regularly.
Have a lovely weekend!
