We can’t believe we have already reached the end of our second full week in Badgers Class! The children have worked incredibly hard with their learning and have done so well, especially after a long and busy week. We are incredibly proud of them all!

We have had another exciting week filled with lots of new experiences and opportunities to learn.

In Literacy, we have been focusing on strengthening the children’s fine motor skills and finger muscles, which are so important for developing pencil control and early writing skills. During a small-group activity, we explored how to hold a pencil correctly and practised making different marks. The children have also begun learning to write their names and are starting to recognise and use the initial sounds we have been learning in Phonics.

This week, the children took part in their first Maths and Phonics lessons, as well as beginning our first reading groups. They have shown great enthusiasm and are already beginning to grow in confidence with their learning.

We also began our very first Drawing Club sessions this week. Our first story was The Colour Monster, which sparked some wonderful discussions and inspired lots of imaginative ideas and drawings. Drawing Club has already been a real highlight, and the children have thoroughly enjoyed getting creative and sharing their ideas.

Drawing Club – Can I Go and Play Now?

Our first PE session took place this week, and the children thoroughly enjoyed getting active and moving in lots of different ways! It was wonderful to see them joining in, trying new movements and having fun together.

The children have now had their first visit to the school library. They will be able to bring a library book home to share with you, which can then be returned and swapped during future library visits.

Please could reading books be brought into school every day, so that we can read with your child and change their book when needed.

As part of our upcoming learning, we will be talking about how we have changed since we were babies and learning more about our families. Please could you send a baby photo and a family photo to e.harmer-manning@brockenhurst-primary.hants.sch.uk. We look forward to sharing these with the children and talking about their wonderful memories and families together.
