23rd April 2026- Year 1
Good evening,
We’ve had another wonderful and busy week in Year 1!

Mrs Platt is the class teacher and Mrs Kitcher is our teaching assistant.
Good evening,
We’ve had another wonderful and busy week in Year 1!
Welcome Back!
It has been so lovely catching up with the children this week and hearing all about their Easter adventures.
A gentle reminder to please send in photos for the Easter Reading Challenge. Thank you to those who have already done so—we look forward to sharing these in worship and in class.
Welcome back, we hope you all had a lovely Easter break.
Thank you so much for all the photos of reading in unusual places. If you haven't already ready, please could you send a photo of your child reading in an unusual place of their choosing. r.platt@brockenhurst-primary.hants.sch.uk
What a short but busy half term it has been—from trips to planting, it’s been full of activity! Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Easter Service; it was such a lovely celebration. The children sang Spring Chicken brilliantly, and I especially loved their actions!
How lovely it has been to see the sunshine this week! It has certainly lifted everyone’s spirits.
One of our highlights has been looking after our school environment by taking part in a litter pick. It was wonderful to see how well the children worked together as a team, and they were amazed at just how much litter they collected. We were very proud of their teamwork and sense of responsibility.
The children had an amazing time at Forest School this week, splashing in the mud, making dens and embracing nature – even in the rain! It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm for exploring the outdoors. If your child has accidentally taken their Forest School kit home, please make sure it is returned to school in time for their next session.
We have had many highlights this week! The children were lucky enough to take part in Chance to Shine Cricket and Rippa Rugby. They had so much fun being active, playing team games and learning lots of new skills.
Reminder for Parents – Tag Rugby Taster Session
Tomorrow, Friday 6th March, Year 1 pupils will be taking part in Tag Rugby taster sessions during the school day.
Please ensure your child brings suitable outdoor clothing in addition to PE kit, as the field may be muddy.
Thank you for your support.
Wow – what a wonderful first week back! We’ve had such fun reading all about the children’s half-term adventures. From meeting cockatoos and visiting Peppa Pig World, to exciting trips to soft play, it sounds like everyone had a fantastic break!
The children have worked incredibly hard writing their diaries. We still have a few left to share, which we are very much looking forward to. Thank you so much for supporting your child with their writing at home – we hope they enjoyed creating their diaries as much as we have enjoyed reading them.
We want your recycling please!
Next week we will be starting our DT project. For this project we need junk modelling, boxes, egg cartons, tubes. Please send in any recycling from tomorrow. Thank you for your continued help and support.
A little reminder our trip to Marwell is tomorrow (27.2.26) Please ensure your child has the following;

Wow – what a short, fun but very busy half-term we have had in Year 1!
It has been so lovely catching up with many of you this week to talk about how hard your child has been working and the wonderful progress they have made. They should all be very proud of themselves.
