10.10.25- Year 1
Good afternoon,
Wow – what a busy and exciting week in Year One! We’ve enjoyed phonics evening, harvest festival, worships, food tasting, and our local walk – the children have taken it all in their stride.
Mrs Platt is the class teacher and Mrs Kitcher is our teaching assistant.

Good evening,
You may have noticed that the children have brought home two reading books this evening. This is just a quick note to let you know that our book-change routine will be slightly different moving forward.
From now on, Mrs Kitcher will be changing the Year 1 books every Tuesday. Each child will receive two books to last the whole week. We suggest that they spend the first half of the week reading the first book and then move on to the second one later in the week.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support with reading at home.
Best wishes,
Year 1 Team
This week in Science, we will be talking about our favourite foods as part of our topic on senses and taste. The children will also have the opportunity to taste a variety of different foods, including: lemon, biscuits, crisps, cheese, and chocolate.
If your child has any dietary requirements or allergies that the school is not already aware of, please could you let me know by Thursday at the latest? Please contact; adminoffice@brockenhurst-primary.hants.sch.uk
Thank you for your support!
Hello everyone,
We've had another fun and busy week in Owls class!
This week, we've been learning the story of The Three Little Pigs. The children have enjoyed creating their own story maps and learning the story through actions — it's been great fun! We'd love to invite you to a special performance where the children will share their storytelling with you on Wednesday 22nd October at 2:30pm. Details to follow. We hope to see you there!
Good evening,
We've had a busy and creative week in Year 1!
Good afternoon,
It’s been another busy and exciting week in Year 1! We’ve been focusing on developing our sentence writing skills using The Queen’s Hat as our inspiration. The children have worked hard to remember to use capital letters, finger spaces, and full stops.
Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope this message finds you well.
Good evening,
We've had a fantastic week in Year 1, filled with teamwork and collaboration in pairs and small groups.
Good afternoon, it has been wonderful to welcome the children back and hear about all their fun summer adventures. The last two days, the children have settled really well and are super independent, well done Owls. A fantastic start!
We are finally there — the end of a fantastic year! It was so lovely to see so many of you yesterday. The children were absolutely thrilled to share their work with you, and it was a joy to watch their pride and excitement.
Wow – Nearly There! We can hardly believe we're almost at the end of the year – time has truly flown! The children continue to amaze us with their positive, can-do attitudes and boundless enthusiasm for learning.
Another fun and busy week in Owls.
