Year 1 - 25th April 2025

Good afternoon everyone! We have had a fantastic first week back in Year 1. The children have enjoyed sharing with us what they got up to over the Easter holidays.
In Maths we have been looking at how to measure length and height using multi-link and introduced measuring in centimetres. We also measured and compared objects around the classroom using multi-link.
In English we have introduced a new book ‘The Storm Whale’, and the children have been working together to create their own story maps about a sea creature rescue.
In Phonics we have been revising these GPC’s: ay, a-e, ea, e.
In Geography we started a new unit all about environments. The children were able group different categories of environment together depending on their different features.
The children had lots of fun in Computing, where they were able to give commands to a ‘Bee-bot’ and watched their Bee-bot in action.
And finally, in Art the children have been looking at a variety of different artist impressions of the seaside and have drawn their own picture.
Please continue to read with your children at home, and please be assured that each child is heard by an adult read three times a week during their Little Wandle sessions. These books can also be accessed online https://www.collinshub.co.uk/login/ Log in details are in the front of your child's reading record. The book your child has read each week is uploaded weekly.
Have a lovely weekend.
