Good afternoon everyone,
Today we enjoyed a run-through of Sports Day. It was a really great atmosphere and all the children enjoyed having a go at the different activities. There is more information about Sports Day on the Newsletter, which has gone out today.
In Maths this week, we have been learning about counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. We have also been looking at how to make equal groups and looking at the difference between equal and unequal amounts. If the children want to practise counting in 2s, 5s or 10s at home, this would be really beneficial to them. They can see how high they can count to!
In English, we have been writing stories based on The Storm Whale. We have been trying hard to write detailed and interesting sentences that include expanded noun phrases, the word and to connect sentences, and prepositions such as ‘next to’.
In Phonics, we focused on sounds: e (as in bread), ur (as in third), ow (as in cloud), and oi (as in toy). Tricky words: any, many, who, whole, two.
In Science, we enjoyed an exciting lesson about planting our runner beans to see if they would germinate without soil. We used paper towels instead! We had to predict what the bean would need to germinate. All the children have taken their beans home today and they have all germinated! Will any of the beans grow into plants?! Please let us know how they are getting on.
In Art, we created some stunning seaside drawings using pastel colours.
Have a lovely sunny and restful weekend.
