Year 1 - 13.06.25

Good evening, It’s been another busy and productive week in Year 1!
English: We’ve been learning about the prefix un- and suffixes -est, -ed, -er. The children wrote fantastic descriptions inspired by The Pirate Cruncher and had fun using drama to imagine rescuing treasure from a sea monster.
Phonics: This week’s sounds: /zh/ – treasure, vision (su, si) , /j/ – bridge (dge), large (ge), /i/ – crystal (y), Tricky words: move, improve, parents, shoe. There will be no Collins Ebook set this week.
Maths: We’ve been learning about halves and quarters of shapes and amounts. Optional homework on EdShed can support this.
Jigsaw & History: In PSHE, we’re talking about life cycles and managing change. In History, we’re learning about The Great Fire of London—with a fun song to help us remember key events!
Art: The children have created beautiful fire-themed art using different materials, inspired by famous artworks.
REMINDER Lepe Trip – Monday 16th June

Have a lovely weekend!
