We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

Year 1 - 11th July 2025

Wow – Nearly There! We can hardly believe we're almost at the end of the year – time has truly flown! The children continue to amaze us with their positive, can-do attitudes and boundless enthusiasm for learning.

This week, Year 1 transformed into newspaper reporters as we created our very own newspapers all about The Great Fire of London. We even visited Year 3 to share our work, and they were so impressed! We heard such lovely comments:
✨ “Great handwriting!”
✨ “Wonderful ideas!”
✨ “Super pictures!”
A big thank you to Mrs. Morris and Year 3 for welcoming us so warmly.

On Wednesday afternoon, we were treated to the fantastic Oliver with a Twist performance by Key Stage 2 at the village hall. The children absolutely loved it, and we had a great discussion back at school about our favourite parts of the show.

In Maths, we’ve been using mathematical language like more, less, greater than, and less than to compare numbers. We've also been using crocodile symbols (>, <) to compare numbers up to 100 — the children are becoming experts! I have set some home learning on edshed!

Unfortunately, we are having technical issues uploading Little Wandle e-books this week.

In PE, we’ve been teaming up with Year 4 to play rounders. It’s been a joy to see the children supporting each other, cheering each other on, and developing fantastic team player skills.

Next week, we’re diving into our exciting Design Technology project, which the children are already eagerly anticipating! If you haven’t done so already, we kindly ask for a small contribution of £2 towards the cost of ingredients. This can be paid via Scopay. Thank you so much — your support helps us provide these rich, hands-on experiences.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend,
The Year 1 Team
