Good afternoon,
It’s been another busy and exciting week in Year 1! We’ve been focusing on developing our sentence writing skills using The Queen’s Hat as our inspiration. The children have worked hard to remember to use capital letters, finger spaces, and full stops.
In Maths, we are continuing to explore and embed our understanding of place value. The children are becoming more confident in recognising, representing, and ordering numbers.
Well done to all the children who have read at home this week – thank you for your continued support. Please remember, reading little and often really makes a difference. We continue our Little Wandle reading sessions three times a week in school. We're currently in the process of sorting out passwords and accounts for the eCollins books; once everything is set up, we will let you know and will upload the books your child has read in school to their account.
EdShed is now up and running! I've just set some new games for the children to enjoy – we hope they have fun while practising key skills.
Geography Task – for Thursday 25th September As part of our current Geography topic, we’re learning about location and place. We’d love the children to look at a map of where they live and write down their home address. This will help build their understanding of where they are in the world.
In a few weeks time we will be going out for a local walk around Brockenhurst, date and time to be confirmed. If you are interested in helping please let me know.
Have a lovely weekend!
