Year 1 -25.09.25

Good evening,
We've had a busy and creative week in Year 1!
In English, we’ve been designing our own hats inspired by our class text and writing about the adventures they go on. Tricky words have been attached for your child to practise – these are words that can’t be sounded out and need to be read by sight. Play games and spot them in books.
In Maths, we’ve been learning about one less using ten frames, cubes, and bead strings, focusing on the language of more, fewer, and equal.
In Art, we’re continuing our Eric Carle 'Hungry Caterpillar 'unit and exploring collage this week – the children are loving creating artwork in his style.
In Geography, we’ve been learning about our local area. Thank you for helping your children find their addresses – they really enjoyed sharing them and talking about where they live.
Upcoming Local Walk
We're planning a local walk around Brockenhurst on Friday 10th October (9.30 and intend on being back for 10.30). If you're available to help, please email: adminoffice@brockenhurst-primary.hants.sch.uk. Sadly, we won’t be able to go ahead without enough adult helpers.
Reminders:
- Reading: Please sign the reading record after reading. Books are changed on Tuesdays and Fridays.
- School Photos: Next Tuesday.
Have a lovely weekend!
