Hello everyone,
We've had another fun and busy week in Owls class!
This week, we've been learning the story of The Three Little Pigs. The children have enjoyed creating their own story maps and learning the story through actions — it's been great fun! We'd love to invite you to a special performance where the children will share their storytelling with you on Wednesday 22nd October at 2:30pm. Details to follow. We hope to see you there!
In Maths, we've been comparing numbers using the 'crocodile symbols' to show if a number is greater than, less than, or equal to. The children used Numicon in practical activities to help them understand, and we also learned a catchy song to help remember the concept: Greater Than, Less Than Song
I've set some home learning on EdShed to consolidate this topic.
This week in phonics, we’ve introduced the following new digraphs: ay (as in say, play) ou (as in sound, found) oy (as in boy, joy) ea (as in read, teach)
To support this learning, I've added some fun phonics games on EdShed for the children to practise at home.
A quick reminder: our Phonics Evening is on Tuesday 6th October at 6:15pm. We’ll be sharing how we teach phonics and reading in Year 1, and giving you tips on how to support your child at home. We hope many of you can join us!
A big thank you to all the parents who have been reading with children – your support makes a huge difference! Also, thank you to the volunteers who have kindly offered to help with our Brockenhurst walk on Friday 10th October. We’ll be leaving school at 9:30am.
