Good evening,
This week has been full of excitement as we shared and talked about our favourite toys! A huge thank you to everyone who sent in a photo – it really brought the topic to life for the children. We also started our new text, Lost in the Toy Museum, which has sparked lots of curiosity and discussion.
In Maths, we’ve been learning about subtraction, using vocabulary such as "take away," "minus," "subtract," and "equals." The children have been practising practically by crossing out objects to represent subtraction. We’ve also had discussions about the importance of knowing how many objects we start with in order to subtract correctly. To support this learning at home, we’ve attached some homework to the blog, or you can access work on Edshed.
In phonics this week, we’ve been growing the code and practising everything we have learnt so far this half-term. Please continue to read at home and encourage your child to spot any new sounds they come across. I have now set the Little Wandle eBooks to support this.
Our tricky words this week are: their, people, your, could, want.
We’re excited to share our Nativity performance with you next week! Please note that we have sent an email and a paper copy with details for both the afternoon (2pm) and evening (6pm) performances.
We also wanted to let you know about some Festive Fun happening at Border Church this Saturday, from 11am to 2:30pm. It promises to be a wonderful event!
