We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

12th December 2025 – Year 1

Wow! What an absolutely magnificent job all the children did this week in their Nativity performance of Angel Express! From singing to acting, every child shone brightly, and we couldn’t be more proud of their hard work and enthusiasm. I’m sure you’re as proud as we are!

A big well done to all the Owls for their fantastic performances. 😊

Phonics and Reading:
This week in phonics, we’ve been growing the code, reviewing all the new sounds and tricky words we've learnt so far this half-term. With the end of the term approaching and so much focus on rehearsals, no new books have been set on Little Wandle, but I do encourage you to use this excellent resource over the Christmas break if you get the chance. The login details can be found on the inside cover of your child’s reading record, and here's the link for easy access: Little Wandle.

Maths
In Maths, we’ve been using number lines to practice subtraction, as well as learning how to add and subtract 1 and 2. A few children are still getting a bit muddled with the addition and subtraction symbols (+ and -), so I’ve set some home learning on Ed Shed to support this. I’ve also attached some additional home learning resources that you can work through with your child at your convenience. If you could reinforce these concepts at home, it would be incredibly helpful!

Science – Melting and Freezing Fun!
What a buzz in the classroom this week as we explored the fascinating concepts of melting and freezing in our science lessons. The children were thrilled with the hands-on experiment where they had to help rescue polar animals stuck in blocks of ice. The excitement in the air was contagious, and the learning was both fun and engaging for all involved.

Book Changes:
Due to all the festive activities and rehearsals, book changes have been slightly delayed this week, and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

We appreciate your understanding!

Thank You for Your Continued Support, have a lovely weekend.
