We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

29.01.26 - Year 1

A highlight this week was definitely the pantomime Robin Hood. It was so lovely to see the children so enthusiastic, singing along and dancing to the music! A huge thank you to our PTA for organising this—what a fantastic experience for everyone.

The children also made a very exciting discovery in the classroom: an egg! We spent time discussing who it might belong to, how it could have ended up in our classroom, and how we could find its owner. The children created their own lost posters to help solve the mystery. As you can imagine, this sparked lots of excitement and discussion, and the children talked about the egg all week. We can’t wait to learn more!

In Maths, we have been learning about the number line up to 20, including finding missing numbers and working out one more and one less. I have been so impressed with the children’s resilience and determination when solving problems.

In Phonics, we have been learning:

  • /u/ – o-e, o, ou (some, mother, young)  /z/ – se (cheese)  /s/ – se, ce (mouse, fence)  /ee/ – ey (donkey)

Tricky words: thought, through, friend, work

Thank you to those who are reading at home and completing the home learning—this support really does make a difference and you can see the impact it has in class.

Have a lovely weekend when we get there! 😊
