Friday 6th March 2026 – Year 1

We have had many highlights this week! The children were lucky enough to take part in Chance to Shine Cricket and Rippa Rugby. They had so much fun being active, playing team games and learning lots of new skills.
Thank you so much for all the junk that was sent in last week – we had more than enough! The children had a fantastic time designing and creating wonderful play equipment for the animals at Marwell Zoo. Hopefully the children have already shared their creations with you; if not, we will make sure they come home today.
World Book Day
The children had a great time celebrating World Book Day. They enjoyed mixing with different classes and visiting other classrooms to take part in special reading activities.
Forest School Reminder
A quick reminder that our Forest School sessions will take place next week. If you haven’t already, please ensure your child has appropriate clothing and footwear. The children are really excited, and we’re hoping the beautiful weather continues!
Phonics
/ch/ tch – match , /ch/ ture – adventure , /ar/ al – half, /ar/ a – father
Tricky words: because, eye
To help us remember how to spell because, we learnt the phrase:
“Big Elephants Can Always Understand Small Elephants.”
A reminder that Little Wandle eBooks have been set for your child to read at home.
Maths
In maths, we have been recapping doubling to 10 and then extending this to 20. I have also set some home learning on EdShed to help consolidate this learning.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend!
