12th June 2026 – Year 1

Good evening,
Year 1 have worked extremely hard this week and had a wonderful time at Lepe. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of them. In fact, a member of the public commented on how well behaved the children were whilst visiting the café today, which was lovely to hear.
The children thoroughly enjoyed playing in the park, taking part in a beach scavenger hunt and creating some beautiful beach art.
In English, we have continued exploring our class text, The Storm Whale. We have been learning about adjectives and using noun phrases to make our descriptions more interesting. We have also been thinking carefully about sentence structure to ensure our writing makes sense and avoids repetition.
In Reading, I have assigned this week's Little Wandle e-books for the children to enjoy at home.
In Maths, we have been learning about place value within 100, including partitioning numbers and using our counting in tens skills to support our understanding. We have focused on identifying how many tens and ones different numbers contain. To reinforce this week's learning, I have set some additional home learning on EdShed, and there is also a home learning activity attached to this blog.
Thank you for your continued support and help.
