16.10.26- Year 1

Wow, what a wonderful week we have had! It has been lovely to see the sunshine, and the children have thoroughly enjoyed collecting natural objects and using them to create their own natural art pictures. They did a fantastic job, and we were so impressed with their creativity!
This week in English, we have continued to practise our storytelling, and we cannot wait to share the children’s wonderful work with you on Thursday 22nd at 2:30pm in the school hall. You should receive a special invitation today, inviting you to come along and celebrate the children’s fantastic storytelling. We look forward to seeing you there!
In Maths, we have been recapping our number bonds to 10. Well done to everyone who completed their homework! By the end of Year 1, children are expected to have a secure understanding of number bonds to 10. We have been using the part-part-whole method to help us find missing parts. The children have found this a little challenging, so I have set some homework to give them extra opportunities to practise this important skill. Please encourage your child to practise at home, as little and often makes a big difference!
Phonics A big thank you to everyone who was able to attend our Phonics Evening on Wednesday. If you were unable to attend, please don't worry! I will share all the information and useful resources in a Little Wandle blog so that everyone can access the details.
Class Reward The children have worked exceptionally hard together as a class and have earned their class reward. Well done, everyone! After discussing their choices, the children have decided that they would love to watch a story and enjoy some popcorn. What a lovely way to celebrate their hard work! Please let me know if your child has any allergies that school is not already aware of, so that we can ensure everyone can enjoy the treat safely.
Home Learning Reminder Please remember to complete the following activities at home:
- EdShed: Practise your assigned games, log on details in the front of the reading record.
- Reading books: Share the books in your child’s reading folder and write in their reading record.
- eCollins: Enjoy reading your assigned eCollins book, log on details in the front of the reading record.
I look forward to meeting you next week at parents' evening. Have a lovely weekend.
