Hello everyone,
I hope you all had a relaxing and enjoyable half-term. It has been lovely to welcome the children back and see them full of energy and enthusiasm. They have made a fantastic start to the new term as we begin the run-up to Christmas!
Phonics This week, we are focusing on the sounds ir (bird), ie (pie), ue (blue, rescue) and u (unicorn). Our new tricky words are their, people, oh and your. Please continue practising these at home to build confidence with reading and writing.
This week's Little Wandle books have been set. Remember, little and often makes a real difference! Please also record your reading in your child's reading record.
English We have started our new English unit with the lovely story Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers. The children have been exploring the journey of the boy and penguin, sequencing events and identifying and labelling nouns.
Maths We have continued learning about addition and subtraction. The children have been practising reading number sentences, understanding the information and using number lines to solve calculations.
History We have started our new History topic by discussing what history means and what we already know. To help the children explore how we grow and change over time, we would love you to send in a baby photo or a photograph of your child when they were younger, if you are happy to. Please send these to r.platt@brockenhurst-primary.hants.sch.uk
Golden Time Children may bring in one small toy or item to share with their friends during Golden Time. Please ensure it is something they can take responsibility for. We kindly ask that special or valuable items are left at home to avoid them getting lost or damaged. Golden Time is on a Friday.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We look forward to another exciting week of learning! Have a lovely weekend! 😊
