Year 2

Friday 3rd October 2025
We have had another great week in Year 2.
In English, after completing their fantastic stories, we have started to read a new book 'How to Wash a Woolly Mammoth'. This is a funny story which gives step-by-step instructions on how to wash a woolly mammoth. The children have had great fun this week thinking about features of instructions by instructing me on how to make a jam sandwich! They have also enjoyed giving each other clear instructions using time adverbials and imperative verbs.
In maths, we have been focusing on making estimates on a number line. We have also started counting in 2s, 5s and 10s and solving related problems. This weeks homework is set on this. Thank you to those who are finding the time to complete the homework, it really does make such a difference.
On the topic of homework, I have not set spelling homework for Year 2 yet as I am still recapping Year 1 phonics and tricky words. After half-term, we will begin a new set of sounds and words, which is when I will set spelling assignments on EdShed.
On Wednesday, we will be going to St Saviours Church for our Harvest Festival. It would be lovely to see you there. Thank you for all of your donations.
The children have been very excited for our trip to SeaCity museum after half term. I am sure it will be a fantastic trip. Please ensure letters are returned to the office by Friday 17th October. Payments are now available to be made on ScoPay, apologies for the delay!
Have a lovely weekend,
Miss Prichard
