We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

Year 2

Friday 17th October 2025

I have been so impressed with Year 2 this week. They have been working extremely hard and they should be very proud of their achievements.

In English, we have finished our instruction manuals and they look fantastic. We have published them and they are proudly displayed in the corridor. The children were so proud of their work so they have brought them home to share with you. I am sure you will agree that they are wonderful.

In maths, we have been focusing on bonds to 10 and 100 and using related facts to solve addition and subtraction problems. We have now moved on to addition by making 10. Maths is becoming increasingly more challenging in Year 2 but all of the children are working very hard and I am so proud of their resilience. We will continue with this area of learning next week.

We have finished our geography unit where we asked the question 'Why don't penguins need to fly?' Year 2 have had great fun learning about how penguins have adapted to their environment and learning new facts.

On Monday, we will be having a day with Year R and Year 1 to celebrate Diwali. It will be lovely to mix up with both classes and work with siblings and friends in other year groups. I am sure the children will have lots of fun.

I look forward to catching up with you at parents evening next week.

Have a lovely weekend,

Miss Prichard
