We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

Year 2

Friday 14th November 2025

We have had another busy week in Year 2.

On Wednesday, we enjoyed going to different classrooms with the rest of the school to celebrate Interfaith week. Our focus this year was Buddhism and the children enjoyed a range of activities including making prayer flags, painting Bodhi trees and making origami Lotus flowers. It was lovely to see the children collaborating with other year groups and helping the younger children.

In English, we have continued reading ‘Samsons Titanic Journey’. We have been sequencing the story and identifying noun phrases. This will help us when we start writing our Titanic diary entries next week. Year 2 have already had some super ideas!

In maths, we have been adding and subtracting 10s from a 2 digit number. We have used dienes and 100 squares to support us with this learning.

In history this week, we have reflected on our trip to the Sea City museum. We have highlighted the reasons why the loss of life was so great and how this has impacted rules for ships in the future. The children had a wonderful time in Golden time reflecting on their learning and making models and drawings of Titanic.

In art this half term, Year 2 will be making a hat in the style of the fashion during the time of the Titanic. We have started by learning about Lucy Lady Duff Gordon, a fashion designer in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. We have also sketched and painted some hats from that time.

Hopefully, you have received a letter regarding Nativity costumes. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Have a lovely weekend,

Miss Prichard
