Year 2

Friday 21st November 2025
We have had a lovely week in Year 2.
In English, Year 2 have started to write their Titanic diary entry. I have been very impressed so far with their hard work and impressive vocabulary. It has been lovely to see that what they have learnt in history lessons and on our school trip has been incorporated into their writing.
In Guided Reading, we have been learning the poem ‘Nativity’. The children worked in small groups to learn the poem and today, they performed it in front of Year R and Year 1. They did such a fantastic job using expression and prosody, and they highlighted the humour in the poem beautifully.
In maths, we have been adding two 2-digit numbers with an exchange. Next week, we will be subtracting with and without an exchange. Year 2 would really benefit from completing the homework on EdShed to boost their confidence. Thank you for your support.
This week, I have set some spelling homework on EdShed. These spellings have been chosen carefully so that the children can practise the words that they need the most help with. I will continue to set spelling homework each week. Again, thank you for your support with this.
Well done to the children who went to the cross-country event on Wednesday. They represented the school beautifully and we were so proud to hear of their achievements.
Another huge well done to the children who sang in the choir this morning as part of Shining Lights. It is truly wonderful to see children display their talents and share them with their friends. I felt very proud.
Have a lovely weekend,
Miss Prichard
