Year 2

Friday 30th January 2026
Well done to Year 2 for another successful swimming lesson this afternoon. It’s great to see the progress they are making and that they are becoming more confident.
In English, we have started to read a new text ‘Lila and the Secret of Rain’. The children enjoyed making predictions about what will happen and exploring the themes within the book. This week, the children have also been learning how apostrophes can be used in their writing. We’ve talked about possessive apostrophes to show ownership. We’ve also practised missing-letter apostrophes (contractions), like don’t, it’s, and they’re, to show where letters have been left out. The children’s understanding has been growing, and they’ve done a great job applying these skills in their work.
In maths, our focus has been multiplication and division. Year 2 have enjoyed this concept so far and we will be moving on to some problem-solving next week.
In art, Year 2 have created some excellent landscapes using oil pastels and watercolours. These have been inspired by the illustrator Jude Daly, as you may have seen on the school’s Instagram this week.
Have a lovely weekend,
Miss Prichard
