Year 2

Friday 6th February 2026
We have had another busy and positive week in Year 2, and the children should be very proud of their efforts.
In English, we have begun planning our new writing unit, which focuses on writing a story. The children have been developing ideas, thinking carefully about characters and settings, and discussing what makes a good narrative. I am looking forward to seeing their creativity come through in their writing next week.
In Geography, Year 2 created a super whole class piece of work. They worked together to make a large world map and drew pictures to plot on the map places they have visited in the UK and beyond. It presents their personal geography and when it is all coloured in, it will look great up on our classroom wall.
In maths, our learning has focused on multiplication and division. The children have been working hard to understand these concepts using practical resources, visual representations, and problem-solving activities.
Over half term, I will be sending home some extra tasks to further support the children’s learning in these areas and develop their confidence. If you are able to support the children with this, it would be very helpful.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. I am looking forward to catching up with you next week at Parent's Evening.
Have a lovely weekend,
Miss Prichard
