Year 2

Friday 6th March 2026
We have had another lovely week in Year 2 with lots of great learning.
Our highlight of the week was definitely celebrating World Book Day. The children had a wonderful time coming to school dressed in their pyjamas and comfy clothes and sharing their love of books. We spent time rotating around each classroom enjoying stories together and taking part in lots of fun activities. It was fantastic to see everyone so excited about reading.
In Maths, we have been learning about mass and capacity. The children have been using scales and measuring jugs to explore how we measure different amounts. They enjoyed working practically to weigh and measure, which helped them solve problems and understand how these measurements work in real life.
In English, we have continued to look at The Big Book of the Blue. The children designed their own sea creatures, ready to begin creating information pages about them. They came up with some brilliant, creative ideas about what their creatures look like, where they live, and interesting facts about them.
Year 2 have been really enjoying their Chance to Shine Cricket sessions each Monday. They also had a fantastic (and muddy!) morning today playing Tag Rugby. Please ensure that PE kits are back in school on Monday. After half term, when we have finished our swimming sessions, PE will be back to normal on a Monday and Tuesday.
Well done to all of Year 2 for their hard work this week. I hope you have a lovely weekend!
