Autumn 1 Week 2
We have had another busy and enjoyable week in Year 2! The children are continuing to settle brilliantly into their new routines, and it has been lovely getting to know them all a little better.
English
In English, we have started reading our new book, Follow Me, Little Fox. It tells the lovely story of a fox and her cub leaving the city behind to experience the wonders of nature. Year 2 are very good at falling in love with a good book! They are a wonderful class to read to and have really engaged with the story and the writing activities that have followed.
Maths
In Maths, we have been looking at place value. We have used a range of practical resources to build and represent different numbers in lots of different ways. It has been great fun watching the children explore the different materials and begin to use them confidently to show their maths learning.
Reminders
Just a few friendly reminders to help us all stay organised as we head into another busy week in Year 2!
- PE is on Wednesdays and Fridays. Please make sure children have their PE kit in school and that all items are clearly named.
- Homework is set every Friday and should be completed by the following Thursday.
- Spellings are set on EdShed.
- Maths homework is also set on EdShed.
- Reading – children have Little Wandle e-books available to read at home. Regular reading makes such a difference, so please enjoy these books together when you can.
Thank you, as always, for your support at home. We have had a lovely start to Year 2 and I am looking forward to another exciting week with the children.
Have a wonderful weekend!
