We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

Year 2 Blog + PE moved from Wednesday to Monday

This Week in Year 2

We have had another busy and exciting week in Year 2, with lots of fantastic learning both inside and outside the classroom!

English

This week, we wrote postcards to Little Fox’s Dad. Year 2 were incredible at remembering their punctuation and did a brilliant job of explaining how Little Fox was feeling. We were really impressed with the detail and care they put into their writing.

Maths

In Maths, we have started looking at the symbols for greater than (>), less than (<) and equal to (=). The children might know these as my “crocodile friends” – remembering that the hungry crocodile always wants to eat the greater number!

Science

Our Science learning this week has been all about amphibians. We headed outside and built our own frog and toad houses in the hope that we might persuade one to move in! Before building, the children had to think carefully about what a frog or toad would need to survive and then use this knowledge to create a suitable habitat. We will be keeping a close eye on them to see if we get any visitors!

 Geography

In Geography, we explored the different features of a penguin that help it survive in the freezing conditions of Antarctica. The children then used what they had learnt to design their own Antarctic creature, thinking carefully about the adaptations it would need to survive such harsh conditions. There were some wonderfully imaginative creations!

📢 Important PE Change

There is one important change to our PE days. From now on, our PE sessions will be:

Monday morning and Friday

Please make sure children have their PE kit ready for both days.

Another brilliant week, Year 2 – well done everyone!
