Year 3

Friday Blog - Friday 12th September
Good afternoon everyone,
What a wet week it has been! The year 3 classroom has such a good view of the playground and the forest beyond and sometimes, this week, we have had to stop what we’re doing and just watch as the torrential rain floods the playground! The children are quickly getting used to the expectations for Year 3, working very hard for me and trying together to ensure we have a calm learning environment.
In English we have been reading Interview with a Tiger by Andy Seed, which the children are really enjoying – it’s a really funny book. We have had a go at writing interview questions in the same style as the book.
In Maths our focus is on place value and we are already working with numbers up to 1000! Our confidence is growing.
In History we are learning about the Stone Age. We learnt the definition of prehistory, thinking about where the Stone Age comes on a time line. Our guided reading story – Stone Age Boy – links to this topic and we are also looking at cave paintings in our art lessons.
I can already see that lots of reading has been taking place at home. Thank you for your support. Book change will usually be on a Thursday, but books should be in school every day. If anyone has any spare time and would be able to come into school support reading, your help would be appreciated. Please do get in touch.
Have a lovely weekend,
Clare
