Year 3

Friday Blog - Friday 3rd October
Good afternoon everyone.
What a wet and miserable end to the week! Yet inside the classroom the children have been full of smiles! They were very polite and chatty to visitors this morning who were here for our Open Morning and this afternoon have been singing a new song that Miss Prichard taught us in her worship on Thursday. We have also been painting some amazing Stone Age cave paintings, trying to mix colours to match those used 10000 years ago.
In English this week we have started two new books, which the children are really enjoying – After the Fall by Dan Santat and The Barnabus Project by The Fan Brothers. We have been making lots of predictions about what might happen and using the clues in the texts to infer the characters’ feelings.
Mrs Shilton reports that the children are loving trying out our new curling equipment in PE. Please can you check that your child has their full PE kit in school. A few children were missing bits this week.
Just a reminder that our Harvest Festival is Wednesday 8th October, if you would like to join us at the church. We already have a great collection of tins in the classroom, but the children can continue to bring them in for the Wednesday service.
Another reminder that homework is set on EdShed for the children to complete. The spelling and maths tasks link to our work in class. The children’s passwords are in the front of their reading diaries. I try to set the homework every Friday and the children have all week to complete it. I apologise in advance for the times when I forget – it does happen sometimes!
Let’s hope the rain stops at some point over the weekend,
Clare
