Year 3

Friday Blog - Friday 9th January
Good afternoon everyone,
Happy New Year to you all, I hope you all had a very enjoyable Christmas. It’s been lovely to have the children back, full of enthusiasm as always (and very chatty!)
We started a new book this week – The Mousehole Cat by Antonia Barber – which is about the legend of Tom Bawcock. The children were able to interview a local Cornish resident (Miss Prichard!) who was able to tell them all about Tom Bawcock’s Eve and how it is celebrated in Mousehole on 23rd December. We’ve also enjoyed watching a live webcam which shows the harbour in Mousehole. The story is about a storm that comes to Mousehole and we were interested to see how Storm Goretti would affect the sea.
In Maths our main focus has been the eight times table. The children have grown in confidence at tackling our times tables challenge, but all need to keep practising. They know a lovely rhyme to help them remember 8 x 8 = 64 and also enjoyed an Adele song that teaches them the 8x table.
Year 3 will be having Forest School this term. I have put the children into groups A & B. they should know which group they are in, but I will remind them again next week. Our Forest School session will be on Thursday afternoons. Group A will do Thursday 15th, 22nd January and 5th February. Group B will do Thursday 12th, 26th February and 5th March. They will need appropriate clothing and footwear for each session.
Have a lovely weekend,
Clare
