Friday Blog - Friday 16th January
Good afternoon everyone,
Another busy week in Roe Deer Class. In English we have written about a great storm in Mousehole. The children thought carefully about the language they could use to describe different aspects of the storm. They could also observe the awful weather first hand, just by looking out the window! In maths we have completed our unit on statistics, drawing and interpreting pictograms and bar charts. As always, the homework set on Edshed consolidates the learning from in class.
We have started a new unit in Geography where we will be comparing Rio de Janeiro with our own village of Brockenhurst. We have started by looking firstly at South America and today at the geographical features of Brazil. The children have enjoyed using atlases to support their investigations.
I am sad to say that for the second week in a row the children have collectively missed some minutes from their Golden Time. They are all struggling at times to stop talking! I have reminded them frequently about the need to be actively listening when I am teaching. They are also all able to recognise that they do their best work when our classroom is a calm and quiet learning environment. Please could you support me by talking to your child about the need to be respectful at all times.
Have a lovely weekend,
Clare
