Year 3

Friday Blog - Friday 17th April
Good afternoon everyone,
We have started a new unit in science, all about plants. As part of this, we have all planted our own geranium seedlings, which the children have brought home today. Their job now is to look after their plant, with a little help if needed. They can be re-potted if you want, but will survive quite happily in their current pot. As the weather warms up, they will be ok to move outside too. When the plant flowers, please send me a photo. There will be a small prize for the children!
Our art unit links to Science as we looked at Paul Morrison, an artist who focusses on botanicals. He loves dandelions and produces amazing monochrome paintings and sculptures. We were drawing this week, having a go at drawing with black pens on a white background and white pens on black. The children produced some fabulous pictures.
We have read a fantastic book in Guided Reading this week called Hilda and the Troll by Luke Pearson, which the children have loved. It is part of series, if you're at the library looking for a good book!
We had an extra member in our class yesterday - a small mouse kept popping out of the cupboard! You can imagine the excitement!
Just a gentle reminder - please make sure your child's PE kit is back in school. We usually have PE on Mondays and Wednesdays, but it should be here every day.
Have a lovely weekend,
Clare
