Year 3

Friday Blog - Friday 1st May
Good afternoon everyone,
We’ve had another lovely week, filled with sunshine. I can’t believe that it’s May already. How is the year flying by so fast?
We have started 2 fantastic new books this week: The Iron Man by Ted Hughes and The Wild Robot by Peter Brown. The children have responded to them both with enthusiasm, which is always lovely to see. The books have similar themes despite their differences in age (I remember reading The Iron Man at school which shows just how old it is!) I’m looking forward to seeing some great writing next week.
In maths we have been back with fractions again. The children have noticed the link between fractions and their times tables, meaning that anyone who is confident at their times tables is rapidly growing more confident when working with fractions. We should be aiming to know the 3x, 4x and 8x tables off by heart by the end of Year 3. If your child is not there yet, remember that using TT Rock Stars is a great way to support them getting up to speed. Also, I do set homework most weeks and this is also linked to our work in class.
In Art we have made some botanical stencils, ready for printing next week. The children cut out shapes from card and then made pictures from them. They look amazing – I hope the printing works next week.
Don’t forget it’s a bank holiday weekend, so whatever you’re doing, have a lovely time!
I’ll see you on Tuesday,
Clare
