Year 4

Year 4 - 06.06.2025
Welcome back! We hope everyone enjoyed the half term break. This week one of our highlights has been starting to learn the production songs! We have been focussing on the song that we will perform to as a starting point and have used part of our PE session today to begin choreographing some dance moves. It is a very exciting time of year for KS2!
In other news, we have started a new unit during our English lessons. I have chosen to continue with a text that we looked at last half term during Guided Reading – ‘Race to the Frozen North’. The class really enjoyed exploring this text and getting to know Matthew Henson and it has some fantastic opportunities for writing. This week we have recapped events so far, thought about using adventurous vocabulary and explored the relationship between Matthew and his sister Eliza. We look forward to reading more about Matthew’s life next week.
In maths, we have continued with our journey into decimal numbers. We have spent the first half of the week making one whole using tenths and hundredths. The class have used squared split into 10 or 100 equal parts to represent the whole and then calculated a variety of ways to make one whole. We have then ended the week by partitioning decimal numbers using pictures, place value charts and part/whole models.
Reminder – Group 2 Forest School will begin next Thursday.
We hope you have a lovely weekend.
