We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

Year 4

Year 4 - 10.10.25

Hi all,

Thank you very much for all the generous contributions for harvest on Wednesday. The children walked very sensibly to and from the church and it was lovely to have many of you join us there!

In Maths, we have continued our addition and subtraction unit. This week we have focused on how to subtract two 4-digit numbers with exchanging.

In English, our learning continues to be based around the book ‘Greenling’. The children have decided which viewpoint they will take to write their speech as one of the crowd. We have looked at questions they may ask to make the audience understand how they feel and have learnt about conjunctions, particularly subordinating conjunctions and changing where in the sentence the subordinate clause goes.

Within Geography, we learnt about hurricanes and what to do to stay safe and prepare before, during and after a hurricane. In Science, we used classification keys to group plants and in RE we were thinking about what it is like to follow God. The children came up with some lovely responses.

The children will have brought home a letter about our residential trip to Hooke Court in April. Thank you to all of you who have already returned your permission form. I know that the children are looking forward to it!

Have a fantastic weekend

Miss Bates
