We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

Year 4

Year 4 - 24.20.25

Hi all,

We have had a great final week of this half term! It was great to see many of you at parents’ evening this week.

In Maths, we have been learning about area – what it is and how to work out area by counting the number of squares inside the shape. We then finished today by comparing areas.

In English, we have started a new unit thinking about the four seasons and reading the poem ‘Seasons’ by Valerie Bloom and the opening of the poem ‘Dear March’ by Emily Dickinson. The children thought about what March would look like as a person and wrote the next verse of ‘Dear March’.

In Art, we rounded off our Andy Goldsworthy unit by making sculptures, using natural resources, in the style of Andy Goldsworthy. In Geography, the children produced posters to advertise holidays in Florida and this afternoon we did a class litter pick. They all enjoyed doing their bit to look after our school environment. Year 4 also did a fantastic job sharing how we can be loving in school during our whole school worship on Thursday.

Although there is no homework on EdShed over half term, please continue to ensure your child is practising their times tables. Their TTRS login can be found in the front of their reading diary.

Please note that after half term our Friday PE day is changing to a Wednesday. Please ensure your child’s PE kit is in school on a Tuesday and Wednesday.

Have a fantastic half term! See you on Tuesday 4th November

Miss Bates
