Year 4

Year 4 - 21.11.25
Hi all,
We’ve had another busy week in Year 4 and we are starting to feel festive – practising our Christmas carols and creating baubles for the school’s Christmas tree at the Christmas Tree Festival held at St Saviour’s.
In Maths, we have continued our learning on multiplication and division. This week, we have focused on the 7 and 11 times table. Please ensure your child continues to practise their times tables at home.
In English, the children took part in a group discussion based around some contentious issues that the book ‘The Firework Maker’s Daughter’ raises. We then wrote persuasive letters to persuade Lalchand to let his daughter, Lila, become a Firework Maker. We have also looked at paragraphs and when we should start a new paragraph when writing.
In RE, we have looked at why water is important to Christians. We looked at the story of John the Baptist and the idea of Christian adult baptism. As part of our Science this half term, we have started looking at a balanced diet. This relates to our DT learning, where we will be designing and cooking pizzas. Your child will have brought home a letter earlier in the week, asking for a £2 contribution towards the cost of the ingredients needed. Thank you to all those who have already paid via Scopay.
Those children who have not had Forest School yet this school year, will have brought home their slip today. Their sessions will be for the next three weeks on Thursday afternoons (27/11, 4/12 and 11/12). Please ensure they bring in suitable clothing and footwear.
I hope you all have a great weekend
Miss Bates
