Year 4

Year 4 - 27.2.26
Hi all,
Welcome back, I hope you all had a lovely half term.
In English, we have been reading a new text called ‘We Travel So Far’. One lesson this week, we looked at the meaning of several new words, which are in the text and what makes the text interesting for the reader. Today we have been looking at using fronted adverbial for frequency.
In Maths, we have started our topic on fractions. This week we have been focusing on mixed numbers, partitioning them and identifying them on a number line.
The children are very excited about our DT (Design & Technology) learning this half term. They will be designing and making their own cuddly toy to take to Hooke Court with them. This week, we looked at the purpose of cuddly toys and why they are so popular.
In Science, we are learning about electricity. Our first lesson focused on identifying whether electrical appliances are mains or battery powered.
Please note that this half term, we will have PE on a Monday and Tuesday. Monday will be cricket with Coach Dan and Tuesday we will have netball. Please make sure your child has their full PE kit in school on these days.
Don’t forget that next Friday (6th March) there is an information meeting for Hooke Court. This will take place at 3:20pm in the Year 4 classroom. Please do not worry if you are unable to attend – the PowerPoint presentation will have all information on it and will be available for you to look at on the Year 4 blog.
Have a lovely weekend
Miss Bates
