Year 4

Year 4 - 13.3.26
Hi all,
It’s been another busy week in Year 4 and the children have worked hard across all subjects.
In English, we continued our work on plural possessive apostrophes. The children practised identifying when something belongs to more than one person or thing and where the apostrophe should be placed.
In Maths this week, we have started exploring equivalent fractions. The children have been learning how different fractions can represent the same value, such as 1/2 being the same as 2/4 or 4/8. We used number lines to help us see how fractions can be equivalent.
In D&T, the children have been practising their sewing skills. They have been learning how to thread a needle and practise simple stitches carefully. This requires patience and concentration, and the children showed great perseverance while developing these practical skills. This afternoon, they have started to create their toy.
In History, we have been learning about Anglo-Saxon villages. The children explored what villages looked like, the types of homes people lived in, and how communities were organised. We also discussed daily life in an Anglo-Saxon settlement and how people worked together to survive.
In Music this term, the children have been working hard with Mrs Thomas learning African percussion. You may have seen in the newsletter that on Thursday 26th March the Year 4 children will be putting on a concert at 9am in the school hall. It would be lovely to see as many of you there as possible.
Have a lovely weekend
Miss Bates
