Year 4

Year 4 - 24.4.26
Hi all,
It’s been another busy and positive week in Year 4.
In Maths, we have continued to build on our understanding of decimals. We have been focusing on dividing one- and two-digit numbers by 10, and it has been great to see their confidence with decimals grow. To support their learning, we have been using place value charts and place value counters, which has helped them to visualise how the digits move when we divide. We have also introduced the children to hundredths and writing them as decimals.
In English, we have been busy writing recounts of our time at Hooke Court. It was lovely to read their work as it was clear from their writing that they all had a memorable and enjoyable experience. The children have then taken great care in publishing their final pieces to go on our Year 4 display.
In Geography this half term, we are exploring the New Forest and how it has changed over time. We began this week by discussing why the area is a popular place for tourists. The class had lots of ideas, from its beautiful natural landscapes to the opportunities for outdoor activities. It was particularly lovely to hear that several children moved to the area following a holiday or visit.
Just to confirm, as I know that some of the children have been asking, my final day is next Thursday. Mr Wilcox will then have the class on Friday May 1st.
Have a great weekend
Miss Bates
