Year 4 Weekly Blog
This week, Year 4 completed their times tables tests. We are incredibly proud of the effort and determination that everyone showed. It was fantastic to see the children using the strategies they have been learning and practising throughout the year. Whatever their score, every child should be proud of the hard work they put in.
Today was also Toilet Roll Day! We started the morning with the challenge of stacking toilet rolls as high as possible. Unfortunately, our towers seemed to have other ideas and spent most of their time falling over! Despite this, there was lots of laughter and teamwork as we tried again and again.
We have also been busy rehearsing for the school production. There are plenty of songs to learn and dances to perfect, but it is all coming together really well. The children have been showing great enthusiasm and we are looking forward to sharing the performance with you soon.
In English, we have been exploring subordinating conjunctions and clauses. The children have been learning how these can make their writing more detailed and interesting, linking their work to our class text, The Frozen North. We have been impressed by how confidently many children have begun using these features in their own writing.
In Maths, we have been learning about lines of symmetry. The children investigated symmetrical shapes and patterns before tackling one of Mr Wilcox's challenging problems. There was plenty of discussion, reasoning and perseverance as the children worked together to solve it.
Well done, Year 4, for another fantastic week of learning and achievement!
