Good Afternoon,

We hope you have all had a lovely summer and that the children have enjoyed a well-deserved break.

It has been such a lovely start to the year, and the children have settled into Year 4 really well. On our first day, we spent some time getting to know each other, sharing stories about our summer holidays and getting used to our new classroom routines. It’s been so nice getting to know the children over the past couple of days and seeing them become more comfortable and settled in their new class.

We’ve also started some of our topics for the Autumn term, and the children have already been getting stuck into their learning. In Maths, we have started our Place Value topic, looking at numbers up to 1,000 and developing our understanding of what each digit represents.

In English, the children have written diary entries about their summer holidays. We’ve really enjoyed hearing about what they’ve been up to and reading all about their adventures! We’ve also started our PSHE topic, ‘Being Me in My World’, where we are thinking about ourselves, our feelings and how we can work together as a happy and positive class community.

The children have made a fantastic start. They have been enthusiastic, kind and eager to get involved, and we’ve been really proud of them. We’re looking forward to continuing our learning, exploring all of our exciting topics and, most importantly, getting to know the children even more over the coming weeks.

Just a reminder that our PE days are Tuesday and Friday, so please make sure the children have their PE kits in school on these days.

Our library slot is on a Tuesday, which gives the children a chance to spend some time in our lovely library and choose new books when they need to. Please make sure reading scheme books are brought into school every day, as we will regularly listen to the children read and give them opportunities to enjoy reading independently.

Thank you so much for your support in helping the children settle into the new school year. We’ve really enjoyed our first couple of days together and are so excited for everything the year ahead has in store.
