Year 5 Blog
Week beginning 24.04.23
Dear parents and carers,
In maths this week the children have been working on multiplying fractions and identifying equivalent fractions, decimals and percentages. We have been very impressed with how hard the children have worked.
In writing, the children were introduced to the WAGOLL (What A Good One Looks Like) and the final outcome – a persuasive letter about an important issue. We looked closely at the words and phrases used in the example letter. We also revised word classes from the poems written last week.
In reading the children were practising their inference skills and showed great understanding of the emotions of the two main characters from the book Sky Song.
We started our new RE unit, ‘What does it mean to be a Muslim today?’ In the first lesson the children discussed the rituals they have learnt about in previous RE lessons, and what we mean by the word ritual and how it is different to a routine.
In art, the children started to construct their pop art Coronation cubes.
Have a lovely weekend.
