Dear parents & carers,

We have ended the week with gloriously sunny weather and the children have thoroughly enjoyed their break times today.

In maths we continue our unit on place value up to 1 million. The children have learnt some top tips for reading and writing numbers.

In reading we have completed our first reading unit on the non-fiction The Travel Book. Next week, we are starting a unit on waste and recycling.

In writing, we have been busy composing poems, using published poems as models for our own.

In geography we have started our unit on ‘Volcanoes’ and a particular focus on the country of Iceland. This week we compared Brockenhurst with the town of Hiemay (an island to the south of the mainland).

In RE we looked at the qualities a god may have. The vocabulary is tricky but the children coped with omniscient (all seeing) and omnipotent (all powerful)!

In science we are continuing our work on forces, and today we planned an investigation to test air resistance.
