We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

Year 5 Blog

Week beginning  06.10.25

Dear parents and carers,

Another week has flown by. We had a wonderful Harvest Service on Wednesday at St.Saviour’s. Each child in Y5 placed an item on the stage for the Food Bank. Some children had brought more than 1 item and shared, so that those who weren’t able to bring anything had something to offer. The physical act of carrying an item with them and placing it on the stage in the church is a tangible way of teaching about charity.

Our class also looked after Y1 beautifully and partnered with them on the walk to and from the church. Thank you Y5 for being good role models to the younger children.

This week, we have also completed our Christmas Card Art.

In English this week we were introduced to the WAGOLL (What a Good One Looks Like). This isn’t designed to be learnt by heart or replicated, but will help the children when writing their own dual narrative.

In science we were learning that water resistance is a friction force on objects moving through water. We planned our next investigation to try to answer the question: Does the shape of an object affect the time it takes to fall through water?

As a reminder, book change and library time is on a Monday.

Have a good weekend.
