Dear parents and carers,

This week in writing, the children learnt about TANKAS, a Japanese form of poetry that has strict rules about how many syllables there should be in each line. They created them in relation to our text, Hansel and Gretel.

In Reading, we continue our work on The Dragon of Krakow- we have looked at how and why the author might use simile for effect in the text.

In Art the children spent the time this week designing their Christmas Card Art.

We have now completed our RE unit on ‘What does it mean if God is Holy and Loving? The children have had many opportunities to carry out research and to have a creative input in the lessons. They have put forward some excellent ideas.

In science we carried out an investigation answering the question - Does the shape of an object affect the time it takes to fall through water. We thought a lot about the different variables of an investigation and how to control them.
