Dear parents and carers,

This half-term has flown by with the children settling well to the routines and expectations of Year 5.

This week in maths, we have looked at specific mental strategies to use for addition and subtraction.

In reading we have finished our unit on ‘The Dragon of Krakov’.

In writing we have looked closely at how to incorporate dialogue that effectively moves action forward, in relation to our Hansel and Gretel unit.

In geography we have looked at the importance of plate tectonics in volcanic eruptions. We have also focussed on the Eldfell eruption of 1973, to see how a volcanic eruption impacts the physical and human geography of an area.

In science we have been learning about gravity.
