Dear parents and carers,

We welcomed the children back to Y5 this week, and hope they all had an enjoyable half-term.

We have been very busy preparing for the Brockenhurst Christmas Tree festival being held at St. Saviour’s church from Fri 28^th-30^th November. Y5 have made African tree decorations, as the continent we have been allocated is Africa. They look wonderful!

This week we have started our new Reading Unit, and have met the mysterious Purple Lady…

In writing we have planned our narrative in response to Hansel & Gretel.

In maths we looked at multi-step problems involving addition and subtraction. Many children found this tricky, but we will revisit this concept throughout the year.

In RE, we have considered ‘Who saves Us’, in preparation for our unit ‘Was Jesus the Messiah?’. The children generated a broad range of people and organisations that help us- an excellent response Y5.

A reminder that the Christmas card artwork is due back next Friday 14th November.
